This depends on where you live. Usually if you quit your job with no notice (although you have the right) they do not have to pay you anything with the exception of the money you worked and earned. If you are under contract and an appointment letter was to be given to you within a specified time then you may have call for recourse unless your contract also states you cannot quit without prior notice. Even taking action may prove to cause more grief and leave a mark on your work history. If you are in the US most states are “right to work” states where as no notice on either side need be given prior to termination, resignation or other. It will all depend on where you live.
