Do Hydraulic Lifters Require Valve Adjustment?
Hydraulic lifters are used in newer car engine systems to move pushrods as needed with a fluid-based compression system that acts like a tiny pressure pump. Hydraulic lifters have several notable advantages over older mechanical systems. They are quieter, require less maintenance, naturally adjust to an engine’s heat production and act as natural shock absorbers. However, they also require some maintenance—including to the valves—especially if other parts of the engine are changed.
