Do houseplant philodendrons flower?
Philodendrons flower under the right conditions. “Under good conditions, they will bear pretty “flowers” that resemble Calla Lilies…The inflorescences (flowers) have spathes that come in different shades of purple, pink, red, or greenish-white. The central columns that bear the tiny flowers (spadices) can either be yellow, cream or white.” http://www.botany.com/philodendron.html “Several important types of foliage plants do flower under Florida conditions. Dieffenbachias, aglaonemas and philodendrons normally flower in the spring and early summer (April through July). However, a few of these plants may be seen flowering sporadically throughout the year… The mechanism which causes these plants to flower is not known at this time, although the importance of being able to control flowering is apparent to anyone interested in breeding.” http://m
