Do High School Students Prefer to Take Baths or Showers in the Evening?
Is there a difference between the proportion of BB&N high school students who prefer to take a bath in the evening (rather than in the morning) as compared to the proportion who prefer to take a shower in the evening (rather than in the morning)? This study of comparing two proportions is designed to answer that question, in hope that there is a difference. Buckingham Browne and Nichols (BB&N) is an independent college prepatory high school located in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The population (i.e.: the BB&N students), in general, comes from middle or upper class families. The subjects were eighty BB&N high school students. They were randomly chosen to participate in this experimental study. Out of those eighty students, forty were randomly selected to answer the following question: “When you take a bath do you prefer to take it in the morning or the evening?” The other forty students were asked: “When you take a shower do you prefer to take it in the morning or the evening?” In order t
