Do hermit crabs need dry sand or moist sand?
Moist, almost like you would need to build a sand castle. They not only need it moist for the humidity so they can breathe but when they go under to molt the dry sand can collapse on them. I just bought new shells and more food for mine and I got a free sample of organic soil that my hermits love.
