Do hermit crabs become less afraid/come out more?

Some Hermit Crabs will get used to you and come out, and some wont. It just depends on their personalities. I have 9 right now and only 3 will come out of their hiding places (that I’ve seen) in the daytime. But as soon as I turn their light off, they’re all out running around. Picking them up and holding them is a good way to get them more used to you. But only hold them for short periods of time. Also, Hermit crabs can take a few weeks to de-stress and get used to their new environment. It sounds like they’re doing great for only having been with you for a week. I know you said you have one that never came out of his shell while you were holding him, this is fine. It just means he’s afraid, not that something is wrong with him. As long as he’s moving around the tank at night, I wouldn’t worry. I saw that someone said to spray him while you’re holding him. Please don’t do that. Hermit crabs generally do not like being sprayed. It’s good if you mist their tank, but don’t spray the crab
