Do heliotrope flowers attract hummingbirds?
Heliotrope flowers turn their leaves toward the sun. The name heliotrope has a Greek origin. Helio means sun and trope means turn. Heliotrope flowers are fragrant and easily attract butterflies. Hummingbirds do not have a sense of smell.They have good vision and are attracted to brightly colored flowers with a high nectar count of at least 15%.So it is not the fragrance of the flowers that attracts the birds but the nectar.
