Yes. Harp seals arrive on the East coast of Canada around December. In late February, they go to two main regions: the Gulf and Front, and gather together in large groups. The mothers haul out on the ice and give birth to their pups. A mother will spend the next 2 weeks nursing her pup, leaving it occasionally to enter the water and feed. After weaning her pup, the adult females mate. Then they will begin their northward migration, following the receding ice edge.
