Do guest speakers for Career Day and other classroom activities have to complete a Volunteer Application?
Yes, if the school wishes to receive credit for those volunteers they must complete a volunteer application. Board policy, GKG (Local) does exempt a one-time only volunteer from undergoing the criminal records check process which is attached to the online application. However, these volunteers cannot be left alone with any students during their time on campus. A special Career Day application is available at http://www.dallasisd.org/partners/careerday.htm In addition, schools can view their list of Career Day volunteers on their school’s Partners in Education site.
