Do girls like top gear?
I watch it with my Sweetie and she loves it! We are Americans, and apparently Top Gear is getting quite a following here. If you think about it, there are a lot of elements of the show designed to be entertaining to women. Hammond is sexy (in British sort of way), May is gay (and you know women love gays!) and Clarkson is a clown. The guys get into a lot of ‘guy’ trouble through their clumsiness and bad decisions–women love that. The discussion is kept on an emotional level–how pretty the cars are, how fun they are to drive, etc. Technical discussion is kept to a minimum, and in one show recently they even showed kittens on one half of the screen while Clarkson explained about the two-stage turbocharger on the new BMW diesel. They even have the ‘Cool Wall’ to argue which cars are cool and which are not. If you look at the live audience in the ‘garage’, you see that more than half the audience is women.
