Do girls enjoy Tabula Digita’s games as much as boys?
Tabula Digita has worked hard to make sure that our games are attractive to girls and boys alike. We have created a women’s advisory board to review the games’ dialog, storylines, characters and graphics. Also, we’ve conducted focus groups with just girls, just boys and with mixed groups, to get a better sense of reactions of students in different scenarios. We have found that, consistent with the various studies done on gaming in general, girls enjoy the games’ storyline and social aspects, such as the ability to share and work in groups, while boys tend to enjoy the action and competition offered by the games. Our own studies point to the same results, though it does appear that, while boys almost always like the games and girls most often like them as well, the small percentage of girls who do not like the game have very strong feelings about it.
