Do ghosts really exist and is there any proof?
Yes on both accounts, though it depends on what your definition of a ghost is. For the sake of explanation, let’s say that a ghost is an energy vestige left over from a previous event/existence.
Here are some Reference.com definitions of ghost, relevant to the subject:
- the soul of a dead person, a disembodied spirit imagined, usually as a vague, shadowy or evanescent form, as wandering among or haunting living persons.
- (sometimes initial capital letter) a spiritual being.
- the principle of life; soul; spirit.
- Also called ghost image. Photography. a faint secondary or out-of-focus image in a photographic print or negative resulting from reflections within the camera lens.
I include the #4 photographic definition, simply because many times people take photos and see an odd blur, which they attribute to being a ghost (most likely the reason behind the definition for the camera focus issue).
Ghosts in Existence
There are places you can go where ghosts can in fact be heard and seen, depending on the time and whether or not the vestige is willing to make an appearance. Volunteers at the Whaley House have seen and heard ghostly apparitions that are clear as daylight within the museum.
Ghosts in Other Countries
Japan has a powerful belief in multiple different types of ghosts, including the Yuurei ghost stories (human ghost) verses other ghosts such as the obake.
The proof is really in the eye of the beholder. There is equipment that ghost hunters use to measure ghostly presence, but this is not widely accepted methods. However, there is a powerful presence of seemingly plausible evidence that is based on eyewitness accounts, psychics, and ghost hunter equipment.
