Yes, but these dogs are very intelligent and fast learners who will question the need to repeat actions they have done before. So keeping Obedience short and with perfect timing is the secret to their training. German Pinschers and Dobermanns learn very similarly and their attention span is different the Dobermann can focus for a little longer than the GP but both become easily bored with repetative rote training. If it seems to serve no pupose or the dogs cannot see whats in it for them then dogs will not always work unless trained to respond to the owner with respect and discipline coupled with praise as the main reward. These breeds were designed to be an independant worker without human need being a consideration. A thinking smart dog who can outsmart their owners on a regular basis. So food reward and a consistant guiding hand is needed to keep them under control and respectful and obedient( this does not mean entirely submissive as some interpret the term to mean).
