Do geometric political boundaries effectively separate people?
No political boundary effectively separates people unless it is a specific structure (physical or not) designed to (i.e. Berlin Wall). Its usually the customs and laws that separate people the most. I’m going to add to this actually asI had to post early because I had a phone call I had to take. Take a look at Africa, Africa’s borders in a lot of ways were arbitrarily created, and many are geometric still today. Becuase of this, many tribal lands were divided between two countries, but yet they never separated those people who were divided. Another prime example is the Canadian provinces. Saskatchewan specifically. Its borders are geometric, yet it has 2 cities that straddle the border. Flin Flon is 1/2 in Manitoba and 1/2 in Saskatchewan. Lloydminster is 1/2 in Saskatchewan and 1/2 in Alberta. Take borders that are more geographic in origin, say a continental divide, a major river or even a large canyon.
