Do genital warts cause cervical cancer?
The virus that causes genital warts is usually not associated with cervical cancer. Unless genital warts are present on the cervix, women will be advised to continue with normal cervical screening. However, a woman with a wart on her cervix is usually recommended to have a colposcopy (an examination of the cervix) to take a closer look at it. A biopsy may also be necessary to assess the situation.
