Do Geiger counters report high levels of microwave, ham radio, or other radio frequecy interference?
Geiger counters measure ionizing radiation. Ionizing radiation can be either particle or electromagnetic radiation, where a particle or photon carries enough energy to ionize an atom or molecule. The ionization process requires sufficient energy to remove an electron from its atomic orbit. Microwaves and radio waves lack the energy content required to be ionizing radiation. Wikipedia’s description of ionizing radiation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ionizing_radiation) and of the operation of a Geiger counter (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geiger_counter) cover the subject thoroughly.
