Do fresh produce contain preservatives?
Fresh produce section produce doesn’t contain preservatives. They have likely been sprayed with ‘pesticides’ while still in the fields to kill bugs etc. Always wash fresh produce before eating when you bring it home. I’ve heard stories about the people that work in some of those fields are not very hygienic. Such as washroom facilities and no place to wash their hands working in dirty unsanitary conditions at the worst. Produce is inspected before it comes into the country but it’s best to be on the safe side and clean it before consuming it. If the produce is labelled ‘organic’ then it has not been sprayed with pesticides. You can look for an organic section in your grocery store or there is many health food stores that sell organic foods as well.
