Norton and Mcafee are overprices and quite bad products. AVG scores better in most tests. The best malware scanner alongside an antivirus is the malwarebytes.org product. I use ESET Smart Security which is the best you can buy but it’s not free.

I used to be a Norton and McAfee fanatic and switched to AVG. It is a lot “lighter”, works great. Norton and McAfee slow down the computer, because they have too many small programs running at the same time. I am very impressed by AVG, and the AVG Anti-Spyware, another completely free program.

AVG or ClamWin are both good free products, I think they’re as good as Norton and McAfee.
