Do Foster Parents Have a Choice about which Children are Placed in Their Homes?
Yes. MENTOR foster parents make the final decision about whether or not to accept a child. Matching is the process MENTOR uses to take into consideration the family’s composition and preferences. Most children referred to MENTOR come with a description why they are in foster care, a list of the previous foster homes they have been in, any medication they take, and their behavior needs. This information enables MENTOR to select the “best fit” for the foster child and the family.
