I have no experience with domesticated flying squirrels, so I can not say if they make good pets or not. You are doing the correct thing, though, trying to find a breeder. Needless to say, it is wrong, as well as illegal, to take a flying squirrel (or any wild animal) from the wild and keep it as a pet. Another thing you need to find out is whether or not flying squirrels are legal to have as pets in Florida, and if they are legal, do you need any special permits.
