Do fighter planes like an F15 have a VNE?
Diving from maximum altitude will not be against regulations, so long as they are in an MOA (military operations area) I believe. Anyhow, I don’t believe they have a VNE. Just a Vmax. Vmax for the Eagle is around mach 2.5+. The top speed is still classified. When they do these Vmax speed runs, they’re usually somewhere between FL450 – FL650. It’s only at altitude they can hit their Vmax. Also, if they were to dive at those speeds, the canopy would melt and the engines would fry from heat friction. Not to mention the G load from pulling up from that dive would knock out the pilot (even with a G-suite, and likely rip the wings off the plane. The link is to a nice forum with lots of information and debate on Eagle speeds. It’s where I pulled the above stuff from.
