Do female opera singers actually use falsetto or head voice?

Pay no attention to the idiot in the first post. Falsetto is what men use. It is a term to describe a mans upper range beyond that of his uppe chest voice. Women do have what we call a head voice. They have a low, or chest voice a middle and then a Head voice. Typically most will be able to sing everything in the same fashion as their head voice, but especially in the lower octaves, the females will switch into a chest voice.
