Yes. They create user stories, free-form sketches, and acceptance tests on a regular basis. XP even has the practice “Stand-Up Design Session” which is another term for model storming. What XPers do is take a very agile approach to their modeling efforts, in fact AM has it’s roots in XP. This is different from traditional modeling, and as a result when many traditionalists first look at XP they think that XPers aren’t modeling at all because the XPers are traveling light.
