Do experts attempt to crack RSA encryption?
In what could be called the largest distributed-computing effort ever, tens of thousands of computers linked across the Internet, under the leadership of distributed.net, are trying to decrypt a message encoded with RSA keys. They succeeded in decrypting 56 bit key and 64 bit key. The 128 bit key has not been decrypted yet. The attempts began as od 03 December 2002.
