Do employers in the USA do a hair strand test for drugs in someones system?

Most jobs in the US give a simple urine test due to the cost. Blood tests are relatively rare by private employers unless they are testing for alcohol – usually the only people who do blood tests are police after an accident or when someone declines the breathalyzer. Blood tests need better facilities then a urine test, qualified nurses, and it’s considered much more invasive. Even though it’s easier for someone to fake a urine test then a blood test, when it comes to illegal drugs they tend to show about the same results. I haven’t heard of many jobs that use an actual hair test to test for drug use. I imagine some very important jobs / government jobs that require a security clearance may, but most employers aren’t that concerned with drug use. Hair testing is done most often by police to verify people are following terms of their probation, byparents who are checking on their kids, and by insurance companies that are minimizing risk.
