Other forms used when filing electronically, such as IRS Forms 8453 and 8879, will not be accepted. Since the IRS Form 1040 does not contain a signature when filing electronically, employees (and spouses, if applicable) must sign and date (use the date the taxes were filed electronically) the IRS Form 1040.
