Do editorials undergo peer review?
Editorials undergo peer review in 15 (79 %) of journals whose editors responded. Further information was given by 10 editors. In four journals, editorials are reviewed by the Editor-in-Chief, in four journals by the editors and in one journal by the journal’s usual peer assessors. Two editors commented that the peer review process was neither so rigid nor so formal as for other types of submission.
