Do EAMTs have a specific jurisdiction when dealing with animal cruelty cases?
Our EAMTs will respond to all calls from any law-enforcement agency regarding an animal in distress. We currently have contracts with the cities of Phoenix and Scottsdale to assist with animal-cruelty cases including seizure and removal of the animal, investigation, veterinary care, and sheltering. In jurisdictions outside of Phoenix and Scottsdale, we can provide necessary technical rescue and veterinary care for the animal, but we are not authorized to investigate the animal-cruelty case. Efforts are under way to expand our investigational jurisdiction to other cities and towns in Maricopa County.
