Some do, some don’t. You can either just wash them as you would do a feather duvet or if the cleaners has a certain machine, they empty the feathers into it and disinfect them. Then they add a bit more feathers to make up for the crushed ones (from use) and they shoot all this back into a new cover. If the old pillows are in good enough shape to resist a washing and drying (lots of tumbling and weight) without splitting open and ruining the machine, just wash them.
