Do driving style/conditions significantly affect the catalytic converter lifespan?
Do driving style/conditions significantly affect the catalytic converter lifespan? I ask because I found out my catalytic converter is spitting gravel type chunks into the exhaust due to it “breaking down”. My car has just 32k miles, but I drive mainly very short trips (less than three miles). Is it my fault? _______________mazda__________________ http://www.spellchecker.net/spellcheck ||||||||||||||||||ɯɐzpɐ||||||||||||||||||||| –> Reply With Quote –> 07-16-2009 10:09 PM #2 Shomegrown View Profile View Forum Posts Private Message View Blog Entries Member Join Date Feb 26th, 2002 Location Detroit Posts 8,694 I’d say the fact it’s a rotary contributes more. Burning oil will kill cats. We all know what’s what Wankels do best. You should be able to get a new cat under warranty. *Audi S4*Audi Allroad 6-speed*Ford Ranger*VW Routan * –> Reply With Quote –> 07-16-2009 10:12 PM #3 mellbergVWfan View Profile View Forum Posts Private Message View Blog Entries Member Join Date Jan 31st, 2008
