Do dreams usually have meanings behind them?
Opinions differ on whether dreams have meaning. I believe that they do, but no meaning beyond your own waking experience. It’s just that your consciousness is switched off when you dream and the process of “thinking” is different than the ordinary waking process, which permits dreams to explore topics that are verboten (because you consciously verboted them) during the day. By “no staircases” perhaps you mean that the dream house had an upper floor that was inaccessible. Since outside is “my own garden”, it must be your house, representing perhaps your life, or maybe just your domestic life. You saw your girl friend and your boyfriend sinning (“saw my best friend kissing my boyfriend”), spoiling your own private paradise (“my own garden” of Eden?). You think “horrible things about her in my mind” and flee. The two of them follow and humiliate (“they were both laughing at me”).
