Do door supervisors at a qualifying club have to be licensed by the Security Industry Authority?
No. If a qualifying club under the authority of a CPC decides that door supervisors are required for a particular event there is no mandatory condition in the Licensing Act 2003 that states they will have to be registered by the Security Industry Authority (SIA). However, the SIA was created in part to regulate and control private security staff and therefore the use of SIA registered door supervisors is advisable as each registered member is accountable and will have received adequate training in matters involving security.
