Do dolphins only live in warm water?
Every ocean provides a home to multiple species of dolphins. Some dolphins –like the Hourglass dolphins living around Antarctica– need cold water to thrive. Other species of dolphins –such as the Fraser’s dolphin native to the Caribbean -would not fare well in cooler water. Bottlenose dolphins are found in most oceans and seas. While they are typically associated with warm water, there are a number of bottlenose dolphin populations found in temperate waters in the Pacific ocean whose temperatures routinely dip below 55 degrees Fahrenheit. However, they are not found in Arctic or Antarctic waters.
