Yes, I do think dogs have a perception of time but through cues and stimulus. Our chow wakes us around the same time in the morning, could be the sunlight, strain on the bladder or time for breakfast. It knows that it is time for us to get up. Now. Our dog knows the pattern of our rituals and behavior. She goes outside, does her business and then goes downstairs and waits. She knows my wife will come and feed her. She watches. She then gets feed and goes to sleep. I have my toast and as soon as I finish it, without fail, she comes to me for the crust. There is no noise, call or cue. She just gets up and comes. She likes to go out so will come up to me and grunt to be let out. She then goes out onto our decking and observes for a while. She then scratches on the door to come in. She sleeps. Soon as my wife has eaten and is dressed she comes to her for her walk. It does not always happen and she is ready. She also wakes for the time my son’s girlfriend has her toast. She gets her crusts
