Do doctors know the difference between cat scratches and self injury?

I’m pretty sure doctors, especially psychologists, know the difference. Cat scratches do look a bit different than self-harm injuries – usually the width of the cuts and how the cuts are organized. If your psychologist has a degree/certificate to handle self-injury cases, you probably won’t go see someone else. And usually they don’t make/can’t force you to see anyone unless it’s incredibly bad, so even if your psychologist sees them he/she probably won’t suggest another therapy anyways. As for telling your parents, that depends on the severity of the cutting. If your psychologists thinks you’re a real danger to yourself, he/she has to inform them.
