Do diesel cars have lambda sensors?
No. The lambda sensor is connected to a catalytic converter – it ‘sniffs’ the gases and and adjusts settings to make sure that the level of noxious exhaust is within limits. Catalytic converters are only fitted on petrol engines. Unfortunately, diesel engines emit ‘oil particulates’ in the exhaust which are considerably more harmful to health than even leaded petrol exhaust was! This fact seems glaringly overlooked by the eco brigade.
