Do Dachshunds make good house pets?
Dachshunds are lively and affectionate dogs that can be ideal family pets if they are trained correctly. However, they can be rather difficult to toilet train and in general. It is important to assert a pack leader status over this breed otherwise they will dominate the household. If not controlled they have a tendency to be jealous, irritable, obstinate and very quick to bite. They can also be very vocal if not trained to stop this unwanted behaviour. Their weight also needs to be carefully monitored because of their delicate frames. If you are staying with the dog throughout the day this would not be a problem if you could devote a lot of time to it. If you are out of work however, this would be a difficult situation.
