Do conservatives really believe that the earth is in a cooling phase?

In addition to the recent freak snowstorms in Malibu, New Orleans and Las Vegas, Arctic ice is expanding this year – not shrinking – and there were 115 record-low temperatures reported in the U.S. in October, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Despite rising carbon dioxide levels, the Earth has actually been cooling – not warming – since 1998, when the warming trend peaked in conjunction with heightened sunspot activity. It appears that 2008, the National Climatic Data Center now says, will go down as the coldest year in a decade.
Earth is in a cooling phase. It may be in an overall warming trend long term but it mitigated recently and this cooling was not predicted in any of the more accredited models. There was an excellent article on this recently in the Wall Street Journal. If you’re interested in having all the facts, you should look it up. It had an overview detailed desrribing how climate modeling is done. Maybe for your next question you can cite some references on how much man contributes to greenhouse gases, how much gas can be eliminated through limiting their creation and how this will alter the onslaught of global warming.
