Do connexions have to tell someone if I say I feel suicidal?
I don’t know what the policy of Connexions would be, but most people in the personal advice field have procedures to go through if they are convinced you could make a suicide attempt. Usually though, advisers don’t hit the panic button but they may discuss the matter in confidence with a more senior person in order to get guidance on how best to help you & also to cover themselves in case things go wrong. Only if she is convinced that you could be on the verge of actually making a suicide attempt should she refer you on. Otherwise, people admitting to having suicidal thoughts is fairly common & probably all she would do would be to calmly continue working with you but in the course of things to ask enough detail to assure herself you’re not about to try & kill yourself. Generally though, people likely to make a serious suicide attempt don’t tell anyone beforehand. 95% of all suicide attempts are unsuccessful anyway. So admitting to having suicidal thoughts shouldn’t make her panic at a
