Do companies actually hire rebate processors?

Well, I don’t know of a company that hires rebate processors, but I seriously doubt any company would want to do that. What would a rebate processor do anyway? Would they help companies contact thousands of consumers to remind these lazy and forgetful consumers that they own them money, especially since the company has already reported the profits in their books? So let’s be logical here. It would cost MORE money for companies to hire personnel to contact customers via phone or via postal mail just to REMIND them that they owe them money, especially when the customer already knew it was his/her responsibility to claim the rebate before the deadline. Why would companies want to kill the profits they’ve already previously realized on their books? Does rebate processing make any sense to you? Seems to me like there’s no logic in companies hiring rebate processors, to spend more money only to lose more profits. I don’t think so! It’s totally backwards.
