Do community colleges offer advanced placement courses?
In several general eduction type classes, you can usually take a ACT/SAT type test where you have the opportunity to “test” out of a class by taking a college placement test. If you did low in one area, or high in the other, you may be able to jump up to a higher level course, usually in math or reading classes. If your ACT/SAT scores were low in a certain area, then you may be able to take the college placement test and “test out” of the lower class you had originally been placed into. I would also suggest looking into programs targeted for honor and dean’s list students. Just remember that college courses are much more rigorous than high school classes. If you sign up for an advanced course, then be prepared to spend a lot more homework and study time in that class. I hope this helps and good luck with your future! I just wanted to make a note that this is from my own experience at my community college.
