Do colleges have the residence halls cleaned during the summer?
Yes. Every university I know of has their staff do a thorough cleaning during the summer, before the fall term starts. They even wax and polish the floors, so they’ll look nice for when you start college. I know this for a fact, because I’ve seen them do it, and it’s routine at all colleges that this is done. Bathrooms do tend to get disinfected. All surfaces are scrubbed. Pest control is done at that time as well. This doesn’t mean that everything is perfect! If a dorm has pests, the sprays won’t necessarily 100% control them, for example. If the floor is old and worn, it’ll still be old and worn – but clean, old and worn.
