Generally, a serious collector of the subject of the magazine (whether the magazine is about sports cards, dolls, toy soldiers or whatever) will want the entire magazine. They will use the magazine as a reference tool for their hobby. I collect toy soldiers and I have magazines going back thirty years or more. I use them as a reference guide or as a research tool when I am looking at a possible acquisition. So, I look for the entire magazine, preferably the entire volume at a time. I have a friend that is only concerned about the covers. Although, he has a different purpose than I do. He has taken the covers of a number of magazines and has framed them and uses them as decorations in his home.
