One of the biggest reasons City of Galt is such an attractive place to live is the extensive landscaping, trails, and street lighting that exist in the public right-of-way. There are several financing districts within the City, created to finance both infrastructure and ongoing maintenance costs. The levies for these assessments or special taxes are collected via levy on the Sacramento County property tax bill and the amounts vary depending upon the district. The districts financing infrastructure are either 1915 Act Assessment Districts or Mello Roos Districts. For these districts, amounts are levied on parcels within the district on an annual basis to repay the debt.
