Do circuit diagrams have to follow the same position in real life?

I think I understand what you are asking and the answer is No. Diagrams have to be simple to understand. Whereas in real life the most simple answer is to take shorter cuts for practicability. However more knowlege is essential. E.g. If you are fitting sockets in a building you should always go vertical with wiring, but If you do not, then it should be obvious that you have positioned them diaganaly or horizontally for health and safety reasons.
