Do Christians think they possess a power that non believers don have?
I’m a Gnostic Christian, which basically means that I choose to interpret the Bible myself (which was edited by men with politically vested interests, and re-edited, and re-edited, and severely down-played the role of important women at the time, but that’s another story…) I’ve dealt with people like that too. You’ll find that same superiority complex in people involved with just about every religion there is (although those people will never say so in those particular words). Hey I understand you’ve probably seen the same behavior in Christians over and over and over again, but please know that not all of us are like that. Some of us simply believe what we believe and do not in any way try to force that down other people’s throats. I’ve met Atheists who do the same thing with their own non-belief that they accuse Christians of! I’ve met Christians who make fun of Catholics on a regular basis, and I mean being loud and obvious about it. One thing I can think of that you and I have in
We ourselves are in no way Superior to anyone. The only power that we have that non believers don’t have are the gifts of the Holy spirit And the are intended to Help us to lead others to the Lord . Some of the gifts are. To witness and to minister , to discern right from wrong and good from evil , to teach ,to Learn Gods word and use it rightly and honestly, to empower and rightly encourage their fellow Christians , to provide Godly council, some have extraordinary gifts like the gift of healing or the gift of tongues. Whatever gift a christian may have it is not something that they have alone , it is only because of the Holy Spirit being present in them and seeing the heart of the believer the Holy Spirit will bestow these gifts only if the heart and will of the believer lines up with that of God. And these Spiritual gifts are for God’s purposes and not our own selfish indulgence. Thanks for the thought provoking question and God bless you.
We have the power of the Holy Spirit, but it’s not about possessing power. It’s about knowing the One who possesses all power and might, who answers our prayers according to His will. 2co 10:17 But he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord. As for being blind, physical things are seen physically, and spiritual things are seen spiritually. Having spiritual sight is as hard to describe to a spiritually blind person as it is to describe light to the physically blind. If we ask Jesus to give us sight, He does.
some christians yes fell that they are far superior which is wrong. Some are also very stuck up and will not talk to non believers. i on the other hand do not feel superior to non christians i feel all of us are created equal, as christians we are supposed to tell the word and if we are stuck up and dont talk to people who dont believe then we have no purpose basically.
