Do children open gifts during the party?
Absolutely! Although some people will say otherwise, I am a firm believer that children should open their gifts at their parties. The other kids will want to see the birthday boy/girl open the gifts they brought and kids like opening presents. Just give your child a pep-talk before the party about present time. Coach him/her to thank each gift giver as soon as the present is opened. You should also take notes of who gave what so that you and your child can send thank you notes afterward. Are thank you notes necessary? Again, I think it’s a nice gesture to send thank you notes after the party. They don’t have to be anything formal, but a nice note from your child saying “Thank you for the Legos. I love playing with them!” is a good way to teach your children to reach out to those who have done nice things to them. If your child can’t write yet, you can print the message on the note and have your child sign his/her name. If you enjoyed this article, please check out National Etiquette We
