Yes. I attend Colorado School of Mines and have several Chemical Engineer friends. They’re average base salary is about $10,000 more than that of a Mechanical Engineer. Around $70,000. But when looking at careers you need to be more focused on what you find interesting. I have turned down job offers where they offered a lot of money but I was not interested in the type of work they do. The worst thing that could happen to you is you get stuck in a job that you hate. If you like to build things and design things I would suggest Mechanical.
