Do charter airlines have better pilot schedules than scheduled airlines?
I answered this question on the basis of my reading of the asker’s wording of the question. It now appears the asker just wanted to show off how much he knows about airlines and scheduled charter. For the purposes of this answer, “scheduled charter” means exactly the same thing as “scheduled airline.” They both get more stable schedules than true charters. A scheduled airline at least has a schedule, and the crews for the most part know in advance what days and nights they will be home and away. Charter service can be completely unpredictable. It is usually somewhat variable, and no two missions will be the same, but you can have totally unexpected changes in route and wait times. When I flew air charter, there was this financial genius (not Bernie Madoff, but it could have been him) that would charter our King Air for himself and three secretaries.
