Do charms lose value if they e removed from a display card?
The answer to this question is usually, yes, since most of the charms on display cards were glued onto the displays. Because they were glued onto the cardboard displays, removing them leaves the charms with one side that looks as it should and one side with either paper and glue all over it or the plastic is ruined from the solvent that was in the glue. From my experience with collectors, most prefer to have their charms without the glue damage as is reflected in the differences paid for two identical charms (one with glue damage and one without). Regarding the display cards themselves; part of what makes these special is that they are like a time capsule of a specific group of items that where actually packaged together this way, and the majority of serious collectors specifically want all the items on the card as they were the day the card was created. It helps the serious fans and collectors to preserve the history of vintage gumball machine charms.
